Abuse Situations 30- Isolation

Dick was very good at isolating me because then he had control. He would tell me that my friend Olivia would say horrible things about me or that she was just trying to start fights between him and I. He said that she told him that I told her I wanted to have a threesome with her and JJ Watt. I thought it was odd that she would say that because anyone that knows me knows that I think that’s absolutely disgusting and that’s something I would NEVER in my life say. He convinced me that she said it though. I ended up quitting my gym and joining a new one because he continued to tell me she was saying things that were mean or inappropriate. It wasn’t until I actually left my abuser that I confronted her and she said that was completely untrue. That he made that stuff up.

Narcissists like to isolate their victims. I never hung out with my friends because I’m a homebody. I don’t drink or party, so I was fine just staying home and hanging out with my boyfriend. I saw Oliva every single day at the gym and he didn’t want me that close to anyone besides him. He got what he wanted when I switched gyms. When I told Olivia this she said, “Do you remember when he tried to get you to move out of your parent’s house and live with him? He was trying to do the same thing between you and your mom.” It was so true! He always wanted me to live with him, so he could have that control too. Thankfully I’m a mama’s girl and won’t move out!
