What I Learned and Realized 55- Boy Dominant Family

The next thing I learned was actually brought to my attention by my sister. She was also in an abusive relationship and we talk a lot about the things it has done to us and why we believe it has happened. My family is very male dominant. It was the female’s job to cook and clean. It was very important for us to have the perfect body and not be fat. It is also our duty to have sex with a male. This is just very old school mentality, but it was something that was never completely broken in our family. My sister and I both felt like our body was all we had to offer to a man, which is another reason we feel we were both abused. I have not felt like this was my job as a female for a long time, but it is hard to break the habit. We need to teach ours daughters to be empowering and independent, so they don’t end up getting walked all over. We also need to teach our boys that this is not how we treat women that we are equals and we both deserve respect.
